My paintings are born from creative instinct and a personal consciousness in the timeless tradition of Abstract Expressionism. The original works are large, colorful and visually provocative. PROCESS
The construction of my original paintings incorporates a high-quality wood painting surface, mounted securely to a 1.75" thick, wooden box frame. The paintings are produced with a combination of oil and acrylic paint, recycled advertising material and various varnishes.
Close-up, the paintings are a synthesized blend of coarse dot patterns and intensely applied paint and varnish. Alignment of shapes, rips, cut marks and brush strokes-both gestural and mechanical combine to create a finished painting.
The larger scale works I produce require a physical intensity to keep the paintings spirit fresh and alive. For myself, creating a successful painting is like writing a great story-each piece has a compelling beginning, middle and an end.
As an emerging fine artist, I am committed to producing art works that push the boundaries of aesthetic expressionism in its purest of forms.
